Memphis City Schools is looking for educators ready to make a positive impact on student achievement. Our District believes that all students can learn and that teacher effectiveness is the single biggest factor influencing gains in achievement. Teacher effectiveness is an influence bigger than race, poverty, parent’s education, or any of the other factors that are often thought as causes of student failure.
 

Special Features of the District:  

MCS schools are rated as some of the best in the state and nation, including White Station High (Forbes Magazine’s Top 20 and Newsweek’s 2005 list of the Best High Schools in America), Delano and Keystone Elementary Schools (U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Schools) and John P. Freeman (one of 12 schools honored by the American Board of Teacher Excellence).
 


Memphis City Schools offers optional programs at 31 elementary, middle/junior and senior high schools. Optional programs include college preparatory, aviation, travel, tourism, health sciences, banking/finance, international studies and creative and performing arts.

Approximately 32% of Memphis City School teachers have earned a master’s degree or higher. MCS has 62 National Board Certified Teachers, more than any school system in the State of Tennessee.
