Mission Statement:
The River Edge Elementary School District
is dedicated to developing citizens who
have mastered the basic skills and complex problem solving techniques;
understand and are able to utilize technology; are internally motivated; have a
high level of self-esteem;
show respect for humanity; have an appreciation for the arts; take
responsibility for their actions; are committed to the continuous pursuit of
knowledge. We do this by providing innovative programs, by encouraging parental
involvement in the educational process and by appropriate use of community
resources.
Special Acknowledgements:
In recent years the district has received a
number of Best Practice Awards from the State in the areas of technology,

“Discovery Room” which is staffed by a full time science teacher. Our students
have also won numerous awards for playwriting, poetry, mathematics and the Stock
Market Game competition. Cherry Hill School was recognized as a 1998-99 New

Special Features:

A borough with a long history dating back to 1639, River

musket is a reminder of the important role River Edge played in the
Revolutionary War, the anchor represents the fact that it was an important
commercial stopping place for three-masted schooners during the early colonial
times when the Hackensack River was navigable and the plow symbol represents its
importance as an agricultural farming community.
Most residential growth in
River Edge took place following World War II.
River Edge is in close proximity to many major shopping centers and highways,
and located only a few minutes from New York City.
