Mission Statement:
Teach Charleston’s mission is to increase the numbers of outstanding
individuals who become public school teachers and create environments for all
educators that maximize their impact on student achievement.
Location:
The Charleston County
School District (CCSD) is the second largest school district in South Carolina,
with about 43,000 PK-12 students and 3,200 teachers in 80 schools. CCSD is the
fourth largest employer in Charleston. Charleston County is a mix of urban,
suburban and rural areas.
Program Information:
Teach
Charleston recruits both certified teachers (Corps Teachers) as well as
outstanding professionals from other careers (Fellows) who are interested in
teaching in some of CCSD’s highest-poverty schools. Teach Charleston teachers
– regardless of background – are uniquely committed to increasing student
achievement for all of CCSD’s students. We are currently recruiting for
numerous subjects for middle and high school levels only.
