Diversity
The largest
school district in Tucson, TUSD educates students in many different ethnic
groups, providing a very unique teaching experience. Working at TUSD also
presents an opportunity to work with a population of culturally diverse
colleagues.
Curriculum and
Instruction Resources
TUSD is proud
of the curriculum implemented and instructional pedagogy that is used by our
expert teachers in each of our classrooms. This has allowed for implementation
of the following resources:
·
Strong foundation and support for teachers in curriculum resources which are
available in a variety of different formats to be used in each content area.
·
Resources include
district adopted textbooks as well as research
-
based documents that when implemented, provide equity
across our classrooms.
Career and
Technical Education
TUSD is a
participating member of the Pima County Joint Technological Education District (JTED),
receiving millions of dollars in local funding to provide program needs at our
high schools such as high-tech equipment, technology, software, facilities, etc.
·
Many programs offer articulated or dual enrollment in Pima Community College
credit.
·
Active CTSO (Career and Technical Education Student Organization) components
integrated into the curriculum.
·
TUSD Career and Technical Education is always looking for the best from business
and industry to join our team of award winning and dedicated
professional teachers.
Classroom Technology

With technology a “norm” in our
society, Tucson Unified School District has implemented a technology plan
concerning all classrooms within the District. The plan includes:
-
At least a 7 to 1 computer ratio in each classroom.
-
All teachers have access to an Internet-ready computer to
offer the best in 21st Century Teaching and Learning.
-
Approximately 1,450 interactive white boards throughout
the District, with more coming every year in an effort to allow teachers to
conduct interactive learning with their students.

opportunities abound at Tucson Unified School District for all employees. Due to
TUSD’s focus on student achievement, professional development is a priority for
certified employment. Professional development opportunities include:
