Hello everyone! I'm finding that I am not the only one struggling with finding a teaching position. In Michigan it seems very difficult to find a teaching job. I have 8 years of experience(all substituting) so you can probably understand my frustration after 8 yrs of searching. I'm beginning to feel like my age (40 yrs old) is playing a big part in me not getting a teaching position. I have a lot of experience and am a very good teacher. I am especially good at helping children with special needs work in an inclusive classroom setting. Is there a district out there that would be willing to truly consider the resume of a 40 yr old woman? I have a 2 pg resume and I've been told the standard is one page but I don't see how I can fit all of my experience on one page. Is there some exceptions to a teaching resume? |
