FAQ's

Q: I'd like to become a teacher, but I don't know where to start. Can you help me?

A: Our suggestion would be to set up a meeting with a college advisor from an area college or university that offers an education program. At that time discuss your interests with the advisor and he or she can best assist you from there.

Q: I'd like to teach in another state. How do I know which states will accept my teaching license?

A: Virtually every state today has reciprocity with every other state.

Q: I live overseas and wish to work in the states. Where do I begin?

A: Assuming you have the equivalent of a degree in education or in a specific field of study, you need to have your transcripts evaluated by an independent agency. You should also find out if the agency you intend to use is licensed in the state you wish to work in. Most school districts in the US will ask for your course work to be compared to study in the US before they will hire you.

Q: I am interested in learning about school districts that wish to hire non-traditionally trained teachers. Do you know of any?

A: Yes there are many school districts and states that offer such programs. Two of the more established programs are with the New York City Public Schools and the Los Angeles Unified Public Schools. Their Teaching Fellows program hire teachers with a BA degree in a field other than education and assists teachers with obtaining a Masters Degree in Education. Teachers are hired to work in districts in need of quality teachers.
